In recent generations, the nigun was matched with the words of the piyut "Shalom Aleichem" which is recited every Shabbos eve before kiddush. The Admur Rayatz would customarily sing Shalom Aleichem with this nigun.

== Additional Melodies for This Nigun ==
In the Chabad musical tradition, another nigun was recorded that was customary among Chabad chassidim for this piyut, from the mouth of the chassid Reb Mordechai Shusterman as he heard it from his grandfather.

In this nigun, the first 2 verses in the piyut ('Shalom Aleichem' and 'Bo'achem L'shalom') repeat with the same melody, while the last 2 verses in the nigun ('Barchuni L'shalom' and 'Tzeischem L'shalom') have a different melody that repeats in both of them.

The nigun is documented in the Heichal HaNegina recordings made by Reb Dovid Horowitz.

This nigun is nigun #25 in the Masores HaNigunim project.
